The public generally identifies the county prosecutor as primarily responsible for prosecuting serious crimes within the county.  In addition, however, the prosecutor is the statutory legal advisor to all the county elected officials, the county commissioners, various county boards, the board of elections, township boards and the public library.

The Ross County Prosecutor’s Office defends and prosecutes lawsuits and actions to which these county personnel may be involved.  It is the prosecutor’s duty to advise these county boards as to their legal rights and responsibilities.
